Live your own fairytale in an historic stone tower in Apulia, southern Italy.
La Torre del Brigante di Montepaolo ( The Tower of the Highway Bandits of Montepaolo) is officially recognized by the State as a structure of particular historical architectural interest.
This stone tower, is dated from the 14th century ; it was used previously as a military garrison to guard a lake and successively as hideout for the briganti (highway bandits) roaming the rugged country.
The Tower has been restored in accordance with Apulia’s requirements for historic properties using traditional materials and old world techniques, which however doesn’t lack the modern amenities.
The Tower hosts two independent apartments, one on the ground floor and one on the first floor. The apartments are fitted with quality materials and the latest fixtures. Each of them has independent heating and air conditioning systems.
They are comprised of a master conjugal bedroom, a guest bedroom with two single beds or a double bed, a fully equipped kitchen with a living room and full bathroom.
The ground floor apartment,”Volpe”, has a large outdoor terrace which flows into the surrounding countryside. The terrace is shaded by almond trees and a gazebo made of canes, all of which provide shade and privacy.
The upper level apartment,”Falcone”, in which you can access with a suggestive stone stair, is endowed with an antique stone fireplace and internal stairs which lead to the roof terrace. Here there are expansive views, perfect for watching the sunset over an evening glass of wine, or stargazing by night.
In the hidden enclosure there is also a charming circular stone construction coop (pigeon house), one of the few left in Apulia, where the carrier pigeons were raised to communicate with other towers.
In front of the Tower there is a preserved place denominated “Lake”(it is a Karstic feature: dolina) in which, during the winter, the wide rain determines a stagnation of water.
In the proximity of the Tower there are typical local framings as carry, almond and olive trees and also typical macchia mediterranea vegetation, home for species protected by the World Wildlife Fund.

The Tower is weekly rented (from Saturday to Saturday); the guest of the Tower can have access to the Agriturismo Montepaolo facilities and amenities: grass field, restaurant and swimming-pool.
The cleaning service and the linen’s change is weekly.
