Visit Apulia
The Manor farm Montepaolo is situated in the south of Bari, within the “lakes park” protected natural area. The farmhouse occupies a strategic position within Puglia: 40 minutes from the airport of Bari Palese and 50 from the Brindisi airport. Conversano, a “city of art”, rich in history and culture, is only 3 km away.
Nearby are the wonders of the Valle d’Itria, embellished by the trulli of Alberobello; The charming baroque Martina Franca, where in July and August is held the festival of the Valle d’Itria; The famous Castellana caves is just 10 minutes away.
Sea lovers, however, can explore the nearby Adriatic coast, fascinating with pearls such as Polignano al mare, Monopoli with Capitoli bays, Ostuni sea and Torre Guaceto natural park. During the carnival period we recommend a visit to Putignano, which during this time has an intense program of shows with allegorical wagging parades.
Continuing south, around an hour and a half is Lecce, with its extraordinary Baroque architecture and other renowned centers such as Otranto, the famous cathedral and Melpignano known for the annual festival dedicated to the popular dance of the pinch: “Taranta’s night”.
From Montepaolo, going north, you reach Bari with its interesting old town and the beautiful Basilica of St. Nicholas. Going further north you can reach Castel del Monte, spectacular in its austere octagonal plan. Just a few kilometers there is the refined Trani with the extraordinary basilica facing the sea.
Walking inland, Basilicata, but as soon as it reaches the border with Puglia, there is the now famous Matera “city of the Sassi” UNESCO heritage and “European Capital of Culture for 2019”.
